The University of California, Merced women's soccer team got things started on the front foot Saturday afternoon against Providence Christian College. That back foot would soon follow as the team cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Ashley Bennett had the game of her career, scooting past the defense all afternoon on her way to three goals. She got things started barely five minutes into the game when she took a layoff from Elizabeth Cruz. Cruz got by her defender, shielded the ball along the end line, then cutting it back to Bennett. Bennett calmly slotted it into the lower left corner of the net to put the Bobcats up 1-0.

It wouldn't be Cruz's last appearance in the box score, as she'd blast one in from just outside the 18-yard box to double the team's lead heading into halftime.

It would be more of the same in the second half, with Bennett continuing her assault on the net. The Razor sharp Bennett found the net two more times in the second half. Once off an assist from Abbie-Leigh Meneses, and another on an individual effort.

The Bobcats as a whole were dominant from start to finish, holding the opposition without a single shot in the entire game.

Maggie Morales went the full 90 for UC Merced, but was never tested.

UC Merced will have some time to enjoy the victory, waiting until Thursday before taking the field again. They'll welcome La Sierra University to the Lake Field at 1:00 PM.
