Women's Soccer Can't Get Road Win Against Eagles

The University of California, Merced women's soccer team traveled to Prescott, Arizona Saturday afternoon. In a rematch of last season's Cal Pac Conference Championship, the Bobcats faced off against Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Arizona. Despite their best efforts, UC Merced couldn't get their offense rolling, and ultimately fell 1-0 to the reigning champs.

Both teams had trouble getting momentum going to start the game. While the Eagles held a slight lead in shots at halftime, neither team was particularly dominant in the first 45 minutes.

The Bobcats' offense opened up in the second half, but unfortunately for them, the Eagles' did as well. Finally the home side was able to break the scoreless tie, finding the back of the net in the 57th minute to go up 1-0.

With that one goal lead, Embry Riddle was content to pack things in and defend for the remainder of the game. In the end, that single goal proved to be the difference as the Bobcats walked away with a tough road defeat.

Maggie Morales was superb in the loss, making seven saves.

UC Merced alternates between home and road games for the rest of the season. They'll get their next game at home October 19th when they host Bethesda University of California at 1:00 PM.
