The University of California, Merced women's soccer team traveled to Simpson University Saturday afternoon and made quick work of the home Redhawks, walking away with an 8-0 victory. In a regular season defined by defense, the Bobcats ended it in style, holding Simpson University to zero shots in their in their final game before the playoffs start.
UC Merced scored early and often in the blowout, finding the back of the net three times in the first six minutes of the game.
Another pair of goals before halftime put UC Merced up by a comfortable 5-0 margin heading into the second half.
It took over 30 minutes for the Bobcats to score again, but just like in the first half, those goals came in bunches when they finally arrived. UC Merced buried three goals in the final 11 minutes of the game to finish the game with the 8-0 victory.
Niccole Salm, Kelsey McLaurin, Elizabeth Cruz (2), Veronica Villacorta, Katerina Rocker Heppe, and Tiffany Souza (2) were the goal scorers for UC Merced in the win.
