Box Score ANGWIN, Calif. - The University of California, Merced women's soccer team earned their seventh shutout of the season and played to a 0-0 draw at Pacific Union College on Thursday afternoon.
The Bobcats (8-5-3, 7-3-1) seven shutouts tie the team's most shutouts in the last five seasons. UC Merced held Pacific Union College without a shot in the 90 minutes of action. It marked the Bobcats first time since March 3, 2021, not allowing their opponent to get a shot off.
UC Merced recorded three shots in its attempt to find the back of the net and tie its program-record with its eighth California Pacific Conference win.
Kaeley Cariglio took the Bobcats first shot in the 23rd minute, while Isabella Spiva and Jennavieve Ordonez recorded a shot in the 77th minute and 85th minute, respectively.
The Bobcats also threatened Pacific Union with two corner kicks in the second half. Defensively, the Bobcats successfully defended a trio of Pioneer corner kicks.
The two teams combined for just three fouls and two cautions.
Jadyn Gong played all 90 minutes between the posts for UC Merced to earn her third shutout of the season and third shutout of her career. She wasn't tasked with a save. Gong passed Valerie Presiado for fourth on the program's all-time list with three shutouts and sixth on the program's all-time list with 1,248 minutes played in goal.
Looking ahead, UC Merced plays at Cal Maritime in the 2022 regular season finale. First touch from Vallejo, Calif., is scheduled for 1:00pm. A UC Merced victory or draw guarantees the Bobcats a home California Pacific Conference Tournament game on November 5.
