Box Score VALLEJO, Calif. - Trinidad Quiroz scored a program-record five goals and the University of California, Merced women's soccer team exploded for 13 goals overall in a 13-0 shutout at Cal Maritime on Saturday afternoon in the 2022 regular season finale.
The Bobcats (9-5-3, 8-3-1) win was their largest of the season and 13 goals scored is tied for the Bobcats second most in the last four seasons. With the victory, the Bobcats tied their program record with eight California Pacific Conference wins originally set in the 2018 season. The Bobcats shutout was also their eighth of the year.
Quiroz tallied a hat-trick in the opening 20 minutes and then scored two more goals in the second half en route to her five-goal program record. Quiroz is the only player in the Cal Pac this year with five goals in a match and one of just three in the last three seasons. Quiroz finishes the regular season with 17 goals, sharing the league-high with Embry-Riddle's Rae Yoshioka. All of Quiroz's goals came in Cal Pac play. Her 17 goals are the second most in UC Merced's single-season history. Quiroz' first goal was her fifth game-winning goal of the season, tied for the most in program history. She also had an assist in the big win.
Zoe Juarez turned in a career-performance with two goals and three assists. She scored a goal in each half, while recording a first half assist and two more assists in the final 45 minutes. Juarez is the eighth player in program history with at least seven points in a match.
Vanessa Raygoza and Hannah DeLay each scored a goal and recorded two assists. The two each finish the regular season with six goals and three assists.
Kassidy Spiva, Kaeley Cariglio, Jennavieve Ordonez, and Carly Kissinger also scored a goal for the Bobcats. Ordonez's goal was the first of her career. Kissinger's goal was her first of the season.
Jocelyne Garcia was credited with two assists. Other notables include an assist each from Isabella Spiva, Kaylee Melendez, and Kissinger. Garcia, the Bobcats all-time assists leader, is now an assist away from tying Brooke Ybarra for the most assists in California Pacific Conference history.
UC Merced scored its first goal in the eleventh minute and tripled the advantage just over five minutes later. The Bobcats led 6-0 at intermission before exploding for seven goals in the final frame.
UC Merced outshot Cal Maritime 59-0 and put 27 of its shots on goal. The Bobcats 59 shots marked a season-high. Quiroz took a program-record 19 shots.
UC Merced hasn't allowed their opponent to take a shot in the last two games.
Head coach Roman DuChateau's team also took six corner kicks.
