VALLEJO, Calif. - The University of California, Merced men's soccer team shutout Cal Maritime 4-0 on Saturday afternoon to finish California Pacific Conference play unbeaten for the second time in the last three years and third time in the last five years.

The Bobcats (11-1-5, 8-0-4), who end the regular season with a 16-match unbeaten streak overall, have clinched the second-seed in the upcoming California Pacific Conference Championships and will get a first round bye and head straight to the tournament semifinals on November 10.

The Bobcats dominated Cal Maritime from start to finish in the shutout, outshooting the Keelhaulers 45-1 and winning the corner kick battle 11-1. The Bobcats 45 shots marked the most by UC Merced since October 22, 2021. The Bobcats put 18 shots on target. 

Marcos Ceballos scored the game-winning goal in the 31st minute. Jesus Enriquez also scored in the first half, while Jesus Ponce scored two second half goals to finalize the 4-0 victory.

Marco Sobrevilla played all 90 minutes between the posts and earned the shutout stopping the only shot he was challenged with in the sixth minute. His shutout was his fifth of the season and 13th of his career. With his 13th career shutout, Sobrevilla moved ahead of Zach Kammerer for second on the Cal Pac's all-time shutouts list.

Ceballos' goal was his fourth of the season and third in the last two games. Anthoni Martin was credited with the assist as he played Ceballos into the corner of the goal box to help set him up with the shot. Ceballos beat the keeper top shelf.

Enriquez doubled the Bobcats lead less then three minutes later with his third goal of the year, heading in a long ball sent in by Martin from the center line. Martin's multi-assist match was the first of his career and he heads into November with six assists in 2022. Agustin Guerrero was also credited with an assist on the score, his fourth of the year.

Ponce made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute beating the keeper from the penalty stripe after receiving a through ball in stride from Kevin Capetillo. Capetillo originally gained possession after intercepting a pass from Cal Maritime's back line. Capetillo's assist was his team-leading seventh of the season. Capetillo is now in sole possession of tenth place on the program's all-time points list with 47 career points.

Ponce scored again off an assist from Ceballos in the closing minutes to record his first career multi-goal match. He has four goals on the year, while Ceballos' assist was third of the year.

Ceballos, who scored the game's first goal, got off eleven shots. Ceballos joins Cody Golbad and Andres Lua as the only Bobcats to record at least eleven shots in a match.

The Bobcats were without Lua and Xavier Barajas in the regular season finale.

The Bobcats will now await their opponent as they begin preparation for the California Pacific Conference Championships. UC Merced will play the winner of the November 5 quarterfinal matchup between third-seeded Westcliff University and sixth-seeded Benedictine University Mesa. The Bobcats semifinal matchup is scheduled for November 10 in Riverside, Calif.
