TEMECULA, Calif. - The University of California, Merced men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes against University of Saint Katherine on Sunday afternoon on the road at Big Horse Ranch. Saint Katherine scored an equalizer in the final 90 seconds to force the draw.

The Bobcats (5-1-2, 2-0-1) are now unbeaten through three California Pacific Conference games for the seventh consecutive season.

Andres Lua and Omar Garcia scored for the Bobcats, who outshot Saint Katherine 17-6 as a team and recorded a season-high eleven corner kicks while holding the Firebirds without a single one.

Lua's goal came in the third minute, his ninth of the season and 43rd of his career to move into a tie with Juan Flores for the third most in program history. That mark is also tied for the ninth most in Cal Pac history.

Kevin Capetillo earned the assist on the goal, sending a low cross to Lua who was positioned just outside the goal box. Three of Capetillo's team-high five assists this season have come on Lua's goals.

While Lua's goal came on the Bobcats first shot of the game, Saint Katherine's first shot of the game in the 18th minute also resulted in a goal to tie the game at one. 

It remained 1-1 going into halftime.

Garcia put the Bobcats ahead 2-1 in the 66th minute. After a UC Merced cross was punched out and a Firebird took an errant touch right to Garcia, Garcia blasted a one-timer into the back of the net. Garcia's goal was his third of the year, all coming in the last four games.

Saint Katherine's equalizer in the 89th minute came on a straightaway free kick from 25 yards out that curved downward into the lower corner of the net.

Marco Sobrevilla split time with Brycen Miller in goal for the Bobcats. Miller, who has now logged 1,601 minutes between the posts, passed Alan Ochoa for fifth on the program's all-time goalkeeper minutes played list.

Looking ahead, UC Merced returns home to play Benedictine University at Mesa on Saturday, September 24 at 1:30pm on Bobcat Field.
