SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's volleyball team lost its two matches on Friday afternoon, dropping both matches to Carroll College and Life Pacific University in five sets at the USK Tournament.

vs. Life Pacific, L 3-2 (25-20, 25-13, 24-26, 20-25, 15-13)
The Bobcats (1-9) fought the entire day and put together their best play in the fourth set of each match to extend the match into a fifth frame. The Bobcats recorded a .333 hitting percentage in the fourth set against Life Pacific, their highest success rate of the tournament by over 100 points. Though, it didn't carry over into the fifth set.
In the loss to Carroll, the Bobcats posted season-high's of 105 digs and 57 kills.
Alexa Ultreras paced the Bobcats throughout the day with back-to-back double-doubles. She finished with 15 kills and 17 digs against Carroll, while going for 12 digs and 15 kills in match two. The junior now has four double-double's in the last five matches. All four double-double's have come along with 15+ digs.
Destiny Lei Ramilo finished with 20+ digs in each match, going for 24 and 20 digs against the Bobcats opponents, respectively. She's up five 20+ dig matches in her senior year. She also had two service aces on the day to move past McKenzie Willett and Cassandra Diaz, and into a tie with Genna Garrett, for third in program history with 75 career service aces.
Jazmine Banks had a career-high 18 digs against Carroll College and followed her morning performance up with 14 digs in the USK Tournament finale.
Serena Choi and Ellie Gordon both registered a double-double vs. Carroll. Choi neared neared a triple-double with 13 assists, eleven kills, and nine digs. She also had two service aces and two blocks. Gordon finished with a career-high 23 assists and 12 digs in the same match.
Other career-high's on the day include nine kills and two solo blocks from Morgan Wilson against Life Pacific and seven kills from Alyssa Dudley against Carroll. Kennedi Baker tied her career-high with ten kills on a .320 hitting percentage.
Bianca Malaluan registered 15 assists and 12 digs for a double-double against Life Pacific.
Next up, UC Merced plays at Jessup University on Tuesday, September 5 at Warrior Arena in Rocklin, Calif. First serve is scheduled for 4:00pm in the nonconference finale.
