Back-to-back buckets by Brown gave the Bobcats a 15-point lead, which was then trimmed down to eleven points at intermission at 35-24.

Simpson cut the Bobcats lead down to single digits a couple times early in the second half but the Bobcats took a double figure lead for good on a Brown layup. Brown's layup started an 11-0 run putting UC Merced up by a game-high 20 points, 52-32 with 12:21 to play.

UC Merced led 58-40 midway through the half and by 19 points at 68-49 inside of four minutes on their way to victory.
