MERCED, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's water polo team fell 22-2 to Azusa Pacific University on Friday afternoon at the Aquatic Center.

The Bobcats (1-6) two goals were scored by Hope Stokes and Liberty Hamilton.

Stokes extended her goal scoring streak to five games with her tally. Hamilton has scored a goal in six of the seven games for UC Merced.

Twelve players scored for APU with Rachel Ahumada and Maria Boix Pascual registering hat tricks.

APU led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter and scored eleven straight goals before Stokes put the Bobcats on the board 21 seconds before halftime.

UC Merced's next goal was scored by Hamilton with 3:59 to play in the game. However, APU scored eleven more goals in the second half to win the first ever meeting between the Cougars and UC Merced.

Carlin Rodelo was credited with five saves for the Bobcats.

Looking ahead, UC Merced will play Caltech and Whittier College at the Bulldog Mini on Saturday, February 17 at the Fresno State Aquatics Center in Fresno, Calif. Game times are set for 1:00pm and 4:00pm.
