SEASIDE, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday afternoon at Cardinale Stadium. It was the Bobcats (3-2-1) first time being shutout this season.
CSUMB's Jennifer Limon provided the games only goal in the 13th minute and the Otters outshot UC Merced 7-4 overall.
Lexi Wright led the Bobcats opportunities with two shots, while Kaeley Cariglio and Zitlali Herrera took one each. Cariglio's shot was on target but saved.
CSUMB didn't put another shot on target aside from their goal.
Sunday's meeting was the first ever between the two teams.
Other notables include five Bobcats playing all 90 minutes and Alexia Alva earning her first career start. Katy Flores, Jadyn Gong, Zitlali Herrera, Macy Max, and Yesenia Tijerina logged the full time.
Up next, UC Merced will begin California Pacific Conference play at Pacific Union College on Thursday, September 26. First touch from Angwin, Calif., is scheduled for 4:00pm.
