SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's volleyball team dropped a straight-set match to Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday afternoon on Kim Cherniss Court at Coussoulis Arena, 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-16).

Sera Riley highlighted the Bobcats (5-16, 4-8) with 16 digs, seven kills, and a service ace.

Jazmine Banks recorded ten digs.

Other notables include four kills from Morgan Wilson and three kills and a solo block from Semiramis Tanasescu. Tanasescu passed Haley Branley for ninth on the program's all-time list with 336 career sets played.

Cal State San Bernardino set the tone for the match early on with a 15-5 lead in the first set. Miller followed with back-to-back kills and then Riley delivered her ace, but the Bobcats didn't get any closer than seven points the rest of the frame.

UC Merced led 4-2 in the second set but the Coyotes scored the next four points and the Bobcats never led again. The Bobcats remained close through the middle portion of the set and were within three points at 14-11. However, CSUSB pulled away with an 8-2 run and went on to win the set 25-15.

The Bobcats and Coyotes traded 4-0 runs to begin the third set. Taylor Crayne capped the Bobcats early run with a service ace. Then tied 5-5, CSUSB delivered a kill and held its lead to match point. CSUSB led by five points at 14-9 and were up seven later on at 21-14. Back-to-back Miller kills gave the Bobcats once last chance for some momentum, but it didn't swing their way and CSUSB closed out the match with four straight points to sweep the season series with UC Merced.

Up next, UC Merced will play at Chico State on Thursday, October 30. First serve is scheduled for 5:00pm inside Acker Gym in Chico, Calif.
