MERCED, Calif. – University of California, Merced women's basketball junior forward Nicole Lukito has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
This marks Lukito's eleventh weekly honor in her career, which is the most across all sports in UC Merced history. She was chosen as the Cal Pac Player of the Week ten times in the last two years.
Lukito nearly averaged a double-double last week with 17 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in a road trip sweep of Hawai'i Pacific and Chaminade. The Fremont, Calif., native shot 66% from the field and 75% from the foul line to lead the Bobcats to their first 3-1 record to start the year since the 2018-19 season.
She registered a double-double in the road trip opener at HPU with a season-high tying 22 points to go along with 13 rebounds and two assists. She made 10 of her 15 field goals. Lukito followed with 12 points, six rebounds, a block, a steal, and no turnovers at Chaminade.
With her scoring output, she passed Rainah Smith for seventh in program history with 785 career points. Lukito is the program's all-time leader with 771 rebounds and 37 double-doubles.
Through four games, Lukito is currently on top of the CCAA with 13.8 RPG and a .600 field goal percentage. She is tied for fifth with 16.3 PPG.
Lukito joins UC Merced men's soccer's Angel Joaquin and women's soccer's Trinidad Quiroz as Bobcats to win CCAA weekly awards this year.
