ATHERTON, Calif. – The University of California, Merced men's volleyball team lost on Friday night in straight sets to NCAA Division II opponent Menlo College, 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-14).
The Bobcats (5-10) were victims of an in-rhythm Menlo College offense that put away 35 kills on a .353 hitting percentage. The Oaks also had 12 service aces.
Wojciech Nowak led the Oaks with 12 kills and five aces.
UC Merced hit a season-low .029.
Gannon Connors highlighted the Bobcats efforts with five kills, two service aces, and a block.
Kaleb Cole had six digs and three kills, while Jozef Lingenfelter was good for three kills and a solo block. With his solo block, he moved into a tie with Jacob Semon for ninth on the program's all-time list with 23 solo blocks.
Toby Miller posted eleven assists.
Other notables include three digs from Sebas Moreno and a solo block from Brennan Taylor. Taylor is now sixth in program history with 109 career blocks, passing Daniel Sabzehzar.
Looking ahead, UC Merced will return to California Pacific Conference action to host Simpson University on Thursday, March 20 at 5:00pm inside the Joseph Edward Gallo Gymnasium.
