Four Bobcats Capture CSC Academic All-District Honors

MERCED, Calif. - University of California, Merced women's basketball players Sarina Nagra, Leilani Blecha, Paloma Ramirez, and Megan Williams earned CSC Academic All-District honors earlier this week.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Nagra, also an All-Cal Pac First Team member, scored 13.9 points per game. She turned in 22 double-digit scoring performances, including 12 in a row to end the season. Nagra shot 37% from three-point land and made 47 triples, which are both good for first and second in the Cal Pac, respectively. She also averaged 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game and started 25 of the Bobcats 26 games. Nagra is a sophomore majoring in political science.

Blecha connected on 53 three-pointers this season, the most in the Cal Pac this year and the most by any Bobcat in the last five years. Blecha, who averaged 8.3 PPG, also led the Bobcats with 49 steals and she recorded a program single-game record nine steals in the Bobcats semifinal win over Westcliff on February 28. She started 20 games and played in 25 overall for UC Merced. She is a sophomore majoring in biological sciences.

Ramirez averaged 5.6 points per game and was second on the Bobcats grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game. She also hit ten three-pointers and collected 19 steals while playing in 25 of the Bobcats 26 games. She earned 16 starts and was named the Cal Pac Sixth Player of the Year. She is a junior majoring in management & business economics.

Williams led the Cal Pac with a 54.5 field goal percentage, becoming one of just two Bobcats all-time to shoot over 54% from the floor. The All-Cal Pac First Team selection averaged 6.9 PPG throughout the year, but that mark increased to 10.9 PPG in conference play. She grabbed 3.6 RPG and combined for 26 steals/blocks. Williams started 14 of the 25 games she played in. She is a senior majoring in psychology.

Ramirez and Williams both made the CSC Academic All-District Team for the second time in their career.

To be eligible for the academic all-district team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher while playing in at least 90% of the games or starting 66% of the games.

Nagra advances to the Academic All-America ballot that will be voted on later this spring.
