MERCED, Calif. - University of California, Merced head men's and women's water polo coach Johnny Bega has resigned from his position.

Bega, the program's inaugural head coach, spent three years with both programs.

Assistant coach Hannah Ellett will serve as interim head coach. A national search for a new head coach will begin next week.
