Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bobcats Secure Shutout, Beat Fresno Pacific 1-0

MERCED, Calif. – Trinidad Quiroz scored in the 56th minute and the University of California, Merced women's soccer team secured another shutout in a 1-0 victory over Fresno Pacific University on Tuesday night at Bobcat Field.

With the win, the Bobcats (2-0-2) remain unbeaten in 2025 and extend their home unbeaten streak to 16 consecutive matches dating back to 2022.

Quiroz's goal was her second in as many games. It was her first game-winning goal of the season coming off an assist and through ball from Lexi Wright. Quiroz outran the Sunbirds defenders and had only the keeper to beat when she received the ball, taking just one touch and firing from ten yards out into the far corner of the net.

The senior has now scored 43 career goals for UC Merced and is ten away from becoming the program's all-time leader, chasing Jenn Salinger.

Wright's assist was her first of the season, fourth in a Bobcat uniform in just nine games dating back to last year.

UC Merced outshot FPU 18-5 on the night and didn't allow FPU to take a shot until the early minutes of the second half. The Bobcats won the corner kick battle 6-3.

Quiroz put pressure on FPU all night long with nine shots, including six on frame. Both numbers are the most by any Bobcat this year. She peppered the Sunbirds keeper with four shots on goal in the first half. One of her shots was kicksaved and an attempt in the 30th minute forced the keeper to leave her feet.

She also served in a great ball to Jackie Tamayo in the 19th minute who attempted a volley goal but it was kick saved near the post. Tamayo attempted a bicycle kick goal early in the second half but missed right.

Tamayo and Wright finished with three shots each on the night.

Alicia Lepe made two second half saves on her way to her third clean sheet of the campaign. Lepe passed Emma Broderick for fifth in program history with 17 career starts in goal and passed Veronica Vazquez for fourth in program history with 12 career wins.

Macy Max, Preeya Singh, and Katy Flores were key defensively logging all 90 minutes helping protect Lepe. Quiroz also played the full 90.

Sarai Fresquez earned her first career start.

Up next, UC Merced will play at Westmont College on Monday, September 22. Kickoff from Thorrington Field in Santa Barbara, Calif., is scheduled for 3:30pm PST.
