TURLOCK, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Stanislaus State on Saturday night inside Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.

Yahaira Vazquez led the Bobcats (5-17, 2-9) with eight kills.

Callie Neufeld recorded seven kills, while Ayana Ruffin finished with five kills and two blocks. Ruffin maintained a .400 hitting percentage.

Morgan Wilson and Kylah Guzman added five and four kills, respectively.

Kyra Miller put up 19 assists, seven digs, two kills, and two blocks. One match after becoming the second player in program history with 2,000 career assists, Miller has now claimed the No. 2 spot in the program's single-season record books with 749 assists in 2026.

Jazmine Banks earned 13 digs and four assists, extending her double-figure dig streak to all 22 matches this year. Banks is now up to 386 digs on the year, the fifth most in program history.

Also of note, Banks and Wilson passed Jaysonna Johnson on Saturday with 394 and 393 career sets played. Banks and Wilson are now ranked third in fourth in program history in total sets played.

Other notables include two service aces from Jourdyn Ozeta-Banks and one ace each from Eve Dixon and Guzman. Mariainez Lopez and Taylor Crayne had four digs each.

Stanislaus State opened the match with five straight points and the Bobcats were unable to recover, trailing by at least three points the rest of the set. The home team reached ten points while leading 10-5 and then grabbed their biggest lead of the match shortly after at 13-6. Leading 23-17 later on, the Bobcats cut the Warriors advantage in half with a 3-0 spurt capped by a Neufeld kill. Stanislaus State would sideout with a kill, and then after a service error, scored set point with their 17th kill of the frame to win 25-21.

Though the Bobcats never led, the Bobcats kept pace with the Warriors through the early stages of the second set and trailed by just one at 10-9. However, Stan State created separation with a 9-2 run that saw the Warriors deliver four kills and an ace to go up 19-11. Ruffin notched back-to-back kills but it didn't garner any Bobcat momentum in an eventual 25-15 set two loss. Stan State recorded a .406 hitting percentage in the set.

The Bobcats led 2-1 after three rallies in the third set before Stan State responded with an 12-2 run and never looked back. Stan State went up by double figures at 21-11 behind a strong block and the teams would alternate points until the Warrior victory, 25-15.

Looking ahead, UC Merced will host 14th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, November 6 at 5:00pm inside the Joseph Edward Gallo Gymnasium.
