MERCED, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's water polo team (2-15, 0-4) was unable to slow down the WWPA leading Biola Eagles on Saturday afternoon, falling 16-2.
Biola, who finished off a first half sweep of conference play, led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter and 6-1 at halftime. Piper Ferris got the Bobcats on the board at the 3:05 mark of the second quarter, her second goal in as many days.
Biola outscored the Bobcats 7-0 in third quarter to run away with the victory.
UC Merced's Kiryn Wicker converted a penalty shot with 3:25 left in the match to extend her goal scoring streak to four games. Biola scored three more goals in the fourth quarter to round out its 16-2 win.
Makenzie Royal had 11 saves for the Bobcats, extending her double figure saves streak to four matches. She also tallied five steals. Makayla Hemphill collected two steals.
Up next, UC Merced will host Cal State Monterey Bay for Senior Day on Sunday, March 22. Opening sprint is scheduled for 12:00pm at the Aquatics Center in Merced, Calif.
