AZUSA, Calif. – The University of California, Merced track team wrapped up competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and Leopard Invitational hosted by La Verne on Saturday. Martel Fields and Leslie Aquino highlighted the Bobcats with a win and three program-records.
Fields won the 200m dash at the Bryan Clay Invitational in 21.08 seconds. Earlier in the meet, he broke his own 100m dash program-record with a time of 10.40 seconds in the 100m prelims. Fields, who already owns the fastest 200m dash in the CCAA, now owns the third fastest 100m dash time. He took ninth in the prelims.
Aquino reset her own program-records in the 800m with a time of 2:18.05 and the 1500m in 4:43.31. She competed at Bryan Clay.
Also on the women's distance side, Delia Rodriguez raced at the Leopard Invitational and hit top five program times in the 800m (2:24.42) and 1500m (4:58.15).
Over at Bryan Clay, Sharvin Manjrekar improved the second fastest 1500m and 5000m times in program history with times of 3:52.62 and 14:49.73, respectively.
Cole Rommelfanger stopped the clock in 3:58.09 in the 1500m, the third fastest time ever by a Bobcat.
Naseem Hassaan finished fourth overall in the 100m dash (open) in 10.89 seconds. The Merced, Calif., native matched his personal-best of 10.78 seconds in the prelims.
Medard Idi is now fifth in the 100m dash program record books with a time of 10.99 seconds.
Up next, UC Merced will compete in the 2026 CCAA Men's & Women's Track & Field Championships at Mangrum Track & Field April 30-May 2 on the campus of Cal State San Marcos.
