MERCED, Calif. – University of California, Merced women's soccer junior Andrea Alvarenga Torres is the FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week after recording four assists and a goal in the opening weekend of conference play, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Alvarenga Torres is the second Bobcat to win a weekly award this year, joining Alexia Alva (Sept. 8).
Alvarenga Torres assisted all three Bobcat goals in Friday's CCAA opener, a 3-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. Her three assist game was the Bobcats first since Zoe Juarez on October 29, 2022 and the first in the CCAA since Evelyn Sandoval on November 1, 2024.
The Sanger, Calif., recorded two more goal contributions in the 2-1 win over Fresno Pacific on Sunday, scoring a goal in the 9th minute and assisting the eventual game-winning goal in the 20th.
The midfielder played 84 minutes against CSUDH and the full 90 minutes against FPU.
Alvarenga Torres currently leads the CCAA and is tied for third in NCAA Division II with seven assists this season. She is tied for second in the CCAA with eleven points with seven assists and two goals.
Also of note, Alvarenga Torres is just four assists away from breaking UC Merced's single-season assists record set by Jenn Salinger in 2021.
UC Merced is currently 5-0-1 overall and 2-0 in CCAA play, remaining unbeaten through six matches for the second consecutive season. UC Merced is ranked tenth in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women West Region.
Looking ahead, UC Merced will start a three-match road trip at 3x defending CCAA Regular Season Champion and second-ranked Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, September 25 at 4:00pm.
