Alexandria Curtis begins her first season as an assistant coach for the UC Merced men's and women's cross country teams in 2022. Prior to stepping into this role, Curtis worked in the sports industry for 8 years and spent a season coaching cross country at the high school level in San Francisco.
Curtis’ cross country roots go deep at UC Merced, having raced on the last club team in 2010 and then being named a captain on the first ever intercollegiate varsity team in 2011. She earned All-Cal Pac First Team honors in 2011 and her 5K PR time of 19:26 currently has her ranked seventh on the program's all-time top-ten list. Curtis, also a member of the women's volleyball team, was named the Georgette "Ma" Kelley Female Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the 2011-12 academic and athletics year.
Curtis competed on the women's cross country team and women's volleyball team from 2011-13. She graduated from UC Merced in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in psychology. Following her undergraduate studies, she continued her education at University of San Francisco where she earned her Master of Arts in Sport Management.
Originally a San Jose native, Curtis now resides in Modesto with her fiance, Chuck Demas, and their two cats, Beat and Shucksun. Other than training for half marathons, she also spends her time teaching yoga, camping, and baking.
