Ricky Rosas, a key part of the Bobcats two California Pacific Conference Tournament Championships as a player, is currently in his second season as an assistant coach.
As a member of the coaching staff, Rosas helped guide UC Merced to an 8-0-4 record in California Pacific Conference play a year ago and the Bobcats put together a school-record 17-match unbeaten streak between the season opener and the conference championship match. Overall, the Bobcats finished 12-3-5 in 2022 and earned a sixth straight berth to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
Rosas enjoyed a standout playing career for the Bobcats from 2017-21 and is the only Bobcat in program history to be a 5X All-California Pacific Conference postseason selection. In addition, Rosas was named the 2018 Cal Pac Defensive Player of the Year and a NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. Rosas was selected to the All-Cal Pac First Team in three of his five years.
Rosas graduated as the program's all-time games played leader having appeared in 85 career games as an outside back. Rosas also finished as the progam's all-time leader with 79 career starts and ranked sixth all-time with 19 assists. The Honorable Mention All-American also finished ninth with 17 goals.
The Fresno, Calif., native is one of just two players in program history to win two Cal Pac Tournament Championships and lead his team to five NAIA National Tournament berths. With Rosas on the roster, the Bobcats played to a 42-3-2 record in Cal Pac play.
Rosas has most recently played for Academica SC of the National Premier Soccer League.
