Ricky Rosas, a key part of the Bobcats two California Pacific Conference Tournament Championships as a player and one on on the staff, is currently in his fourth season as an assistant coach.
With the former Bobcat outside back on staff, UC Merced has gone 37-8-11 with three NAIA National Championship Opening Round appearances. Rosas has also helped mentor a NAIA Third Team All-American, a pair NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans and 12 All-Cal Pac First Team selections. UC Merced played to an 8-0-4 Cal Pac record in 2022, 9-2-1 in 2023, and 6-0-1 in 2024. The Bobcats won the Cal Pac Tournament Championship and a share of the Cal Pac Regular Season Championship in 2024. Rosas graduated as the program's all-time games played leader having appeared in 85 career games as an outside back. Rosas also finished as the progam's all-time leader with 79 career starts and ranked sixth all-time with 19 assists. The Honorable Mention All-American also finished ninth with 17 goals.
The Fresno, Calif., native is one of just two players in program history to win two Cal Pac Tournament Championships and lead his team to five NAIA National Tournament berths. With Rosas on the roster, the Bobcats played to a 42-3-2 record in Cal Pac play.
Rosas has most recently played for Academica SC in USL League Two.
