Gwynne McBride comes to UC Merced after recently coaching girl's water polo at Buhach Colony High School in Atwater, Calif. 

McBride's Thunder squad advanced to the section title game in 2022 and were crowned Central California Conference champions each of the last two years. Prior to Buhach Colony, she coached at Carmel High School on the Central Coast.

McBride played water polo for Cal State Monterey Bay where she was a 2X All-Academic Team honoree and a 2021 WWPA Second Team selection. McBride served as the Otters captain in her senior season.

Prior to CSUMB, McBride was team MVP at Buhach Colony High School and a Central California Conference First Team selection as a senior. McBride was also a decorated swimmer.

McBride holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Cal State Monterey Bay and she is currently completing her Master’s degree in Psychology at California State University Stanislaus.

McBride takes pride in continuing to coach in her hometown and working to uplift student athletes in the Central Valley.
