FRESNO, Calif. - The University of California, Merced women's basketball team fell 73-51 to NCAA Division II opponent Fresno Pacific University on Tuesday night at the Special Events Center.

Damilola Sule led the Bobcats (0-3) with 15 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double in as many games. Sule shot 54% (7-13) from the floor and grabbed eight of her 13 total rebounds on the offensive glass.

Deyliana Lewis added 14 points in her third straight double figure scoring effort. Lewis also finished with six rebounds and blocked her first shot of the campaign.

Paloma Ramirez pitched in eight points and seven rebounds, while Tiffany Nguyen nearly matched Ramirez with seven points and a career-high six rebounds. Nguyen also knocked down a triple for the third straight game to start the year.

Victoria Farris had six points and a steal in her return to action from an injury that kept her sidelined since October 2021. 

UC Merced outrebounded Fresno Pacific 38-33 in the setback. The Bobcats also limited FPU to just 17% (4-24) from beyond the arc. 

UC Merced finished 32% (17-53) from the floor and 67% (16-24) from the charity stripe.

Fresno Pacific was led by Jenna Kurz's 15 points on an 86% (6-7) shooting mark. Fresno Pacific led wire-to-wire.

UC Merced's Malaikah Kashif played 10 minutes in her collegiate debut.
