CALDWELL, Idaho - The University of California, Merced women's basketball team lost 70-55 to Eastern Oregon University on the final day of the Les Schwab Tire Center Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (0-5) had three double figure scorers, including Damilola Sule who notched her fourth consecutive double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Sule also blocked a shot.

Paloma Ramirez led the Bobcats in scoring for the second time in as many days, going for 16 points and knocking down a career-best four three-point field goals. 

Victoria Farris neared her career-high with eleven points while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out two assists. Tiffany Nguyen added eight points and three assists. Deyliana Lewis was credited with four points, five rebounds, and a steal.

Eastern Oregon, who led wire-to-wire and jumped out to an early 17-3 lead, was led by Beverly Slater's 21 points and eight rebounds. 

The Bobcats cut the early fourteen-point deficit in half and came within seven points at 22-15 after a Nguyen three-point field goal. Nguyen has now hit at least one triple in five straight games to start the year. However, that was as close as the Bobcats would come as Eastern Oregon responded with a 24-5 run to see the scoring margin hit 26 points at intermission.

Head coach Kellie Bernard's team responded well in the second half and outscored Eastern Oregon by double digits the rest of the way. The Bobcats cut the deficit to under 20 points just over four minutes into the third quarter and then one final push down the stretch closed the gap to 15 points, resulting in the 70-55 final.

UC Merced finished the game shooting 29% (20-68) from the floor, 29% (7-24) from downtown and 67% (8-12) at the foul line. 

UC Merced forced ten Eastern Oregon turnovers.

Up next, the Bobcats play an exhibition game at Fresno State University on Tuesday, November 22. First touch against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 2:00pm at the Save Mart Center.
