Bobcats Set More Program Records in 102-41 Win Over PUC

Box Score

ANGWIN, Calif. - The University of California, Merced women's basketball team won their fifth straight game and set another program record for both points and margin of victory in a California Pacific Conference game, this time beating Pacific Union College 102-41 on Saturday night inside The Covered Wagon to start a four-game road trip.

The Bobcats (11-7, 5-0) five-game winning streak is tied for the second longest Cal Pac winning streak in program history. The Bobcats won eight straight in the perfect 2015-16 season, while also winning five straight in 2017-18. UC Merced is currently the conference's only undefeated team.

The 61-point margin of victory bests the Bobcats previous record of 46 points just over 48 hours ago in the home win over Cal Maritime.

The Bobcats average margin of victory in league play grows to 36.8 points following the win, increasing their chances at setting a new Cal Pac record by the time the year comes to an end.

Smith now holds sole possession of second place on the program's all-time double-double chart. The San Francisco, Calif., is four away from breaking Mia Shannon's all-time record. Smith also had three steals and two blocks in the victory.

Marisse Jackson finished with a career-high 13 points on 66% (6-9) shooting.

Madison Hotchkiss knocked down four of her six three-point attempts for a 12-point night while also dishing out five assists. Haylee Owen pitched in 12 points, half of which came from beyond the arc. Her second triple of the contest marked the 100th of her career. Owen is the sixth player in program history with at least 100 career triples.
