Bobcats Fall to UC Davis at Aggie Invite

DAVIS, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's water polo team fell 24-2 to 14th-ranked NCAA Division One opponent UC Davis in the Aggie Invite finale on Sunday afternoon.

UC Davis marked the Bobcats (1-5) highest ranked opponent in program history.

Liberty Hamilton and Hope Stokes scored the two goals for the Bobcats, while Arianna Martinez was credited with both assists.

Stokes' goal gives her a team-best four-game goal scoring streak.

UC Davis led 9-0 at the end of the first quarter and scored 16 unanswered goals overall in the first half. Hamilton stopped the Bobcats drought with 52 seconds to play before the break. UC Davis also scored in the final minute of the first half.

The Aggies outscored the Bobcats 6-1 in the second half with the Bobcats lone goal coming from Stokes with just under five minutes remaining in the contest.

UC Davis' Bridget Miller led eight Aggie multi-goal scorers with four goals. Sarah Ellis-Keeler and Gianna Nocetti recorded a hat trick.

Carlin Rodelo was credited with five saves in the cage for the Bobcats.

Up next, UC Merced will host Azusa Pacific University at the Aquatics Center on Friday, February 16. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm in Merced, Calif.
