MERCED, Calif. - Taylor Crayne, Kyra Miller, Semiramis Tanasescu, and Yahaira Vazquez of the University of California, Merced women's volleyball team have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
Tanasescu was named CSC Academic All-District for the third straight year, while Miller earns the distinction for the second straight year.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Crayne, a sophomore outside hitter, is working towards a bachelors degree in biological sciences. She played in 90 of the Bobcats 97 sets and finished fourth on the team with 142 digs and 1.58 digs per set. She also recorded 14 service aces, eight kills, and two solo blocks.
Miller played all 97 sets for the Bobcats this season and turned in one of the best all-around campaigns in the NCAA Division II West Region. She was the region's only player to record at least 437 assists, 223 digs, 145 kills, and 38 service aces. The six-rotation setter and opposite finished top three in all four categories for UC Merced, including leading the team in assists and aces. She finished tied for sixth in the CCAA with 38 aces. Also of note, she had nine double-doubles and one triple-double. Her averages on the year were 4.51 A/S, 2.3 D/S, 1.49 K/S, and 0.39 SA/S. The Fresno, Calif., native and junior is majoring in psychology.
Tanasescu finished her career dominating the middle blocker position and was one of the best in the NCAA Division II West Region both offensively and defensively. She finished second in the CCAA with a .340 hitting percentage and was one of just four NCAA Division II players in California to hit .340 or better with at least 100 kills. Tanasescu notched 15 solo blocks in just 73 sets played, the only regional player with 15+ solo blocks while being limited to less than 75 sets. The Irvine, Calif., native averaged 1.49 K/S and 0.59 B/S on the year. Â Tanasescu, a human biology major, has earned many academic awards throughout her career and was a CCAA Honorable Mention this year.
Vazquez, a human biology major, tallied 101 kills (1.3 K/S) in her sophomore season. Defensively, she added 27 digs and 13 blocks across 77 sets. She put together season-high's of 12 kills on a .417 hitting percentage, five digs, and four blocks.
Uc Merced's four selections are the most since the 2022 campaign.
