MERCED, Calif. - The University of California, Merced has made a leadership change in its women's volleyball program. Ai Prachumsri will not return as the head coach.
"UC Merced is grateful for Coach Prachumsri's commitment to UC Merced Volleyball and our campus," Executive Director of Recreation & Athletics David Dunham said. "We are thankful for his time and energy devoted to building our program and we wish him well."
Prachumsri tallied 120 wins over ten seasons and led the Bobcats to a pair California Pacific Conference Tournament Championships (2020, '24) and a regular season title (2024). The winningest coach in program history was named the 2024 Cal Pac Coach of the Year before leading the Bobcats into the NCAA Division II era in 2025.
The UC Merced alumni, who spent time as the head coach of both UC Merced men's and women's volleyball, leaves a lasting impact on his student-athletes both on and off the court.
UC Merced will begin a national search for its next head coach this week.
