Bobcats Compete at Aggie Invite

DAVIS, Calif. – The University of California, Merced outdoor track teams competed at the Aggie Invite hosted by UC Davis on Saturday.

Seven Bobcats delivered personal-best performances, including Sharvin Manjrekar who clocked a time of 1:56.66 in the 800m and took third in the race. Manjrekar's time is the second fastest in program history.

Also in the 800m, Cole Rommelfanger took fourth and improved upon his No. 4 time in program history with a personal-best 1:57.43. Saturday was Rommelfanger's 2025 debut.

Jorge Mandujano (1500m/4:12.32) and Derrick Pickrel (3000m/9:11.73) also set new career-best times.

2X NAIA National qualifier Jonathan Chavez made his season debut and finished third in the 1500m with a time of 4:04.23.

On the women's side, Kasia Holland ran a personal-best 2:29.94 in the 800m to move into the fifth spot in the program's record book.

The women's 4X100 team, which included Jordynn Lewis making her 2025 debut, finished the relay in 51.34. Also a part of the 4X100 team, Joyce Nichet finished 12th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.83.

Freshman Julianna Luchsinger ran the 400m hurdles for the first time and recorded 1:11.27 earning her the No.2 spot in UC Merced's record books.

Naseem Hassaan highlighted the men's sprinters posting a pair of top 10 finishes clocking 11.00 in the 100m and 22.66 in the 200m.

Another top 10 finish came from the men's 4x400 team, recording 3:33.40 for fifth place.

Justin Noble, a part of the 4X400 relay, set personal-bests elsewhere in the 200m (24.43) and 400m (53.11).

Other notables include an eighth-place finish for Jalen Morales (800m/1:58.87) and the first 10000m of the season for the Bobcats record-holder Joshua Riley. He hit 33:22.75.

Alex Surrena-Thompson made her UC Merced debut competing in the 100m and 200m. Her 100m time of 14.46 put her ninth in program history.

Up next, UC Merced will run at West Coast Relays in Clovis, Calif., March 28-29.
