TURLOCK, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Stanislaus State on Sunday night at Warrior Stadium.

The Bobcats (3-1-3) loss was their first of the season.

A last second own-goal gave Stanislaus State the nonconference Cowbell Cup win.

UC Merced outshot Stanislaus State 11-9 on the night and put five shots on target. Lexi Wright held match-high with four shots, one on target.

UC Merced also won the corner kick battle 5-1.

Trinidad Quiroz and Elisa Garcia had the Bobcats best scoring chances.

In the 82nd minute, Sarai Fresquez served a ball into the goal area that was headed just high by Garcia.

UC Merced's goalkeeper Alicia Lepe tied her career-high with six saves. It marked her third career match with six saves, second this season. She was tasked with a variety of saves that caused her to slide or leap in the air.

Preeya Singh, Macy Max, and Quiroz played the full 90 minutes.

Stanislaus State had a goal waved off midway through the second half due to a foul.

Up next, UC Merced will host Cal State LA for the CCAA opener on Friday, October 3. First touch is scheduled for 4:30pm at Bobcat Field.
