CHICO, Calif. – Thirteen Bobcats competed at the Chico Invitational April 10-11 at University Stadium hosted by Chico State.
Naseem Hassaan was the Bobcats standout performer with second place finishes and personal-bests in both the 100m and 200m dashes. He stopped the clock in 10.78 seconds in the 100m dash to better the third fastest time in program history, while recording a time of 21.49 seconds in the 200m dash to improve the second fastest time in program history.
Nyj Joiner ran his first career 400m dash and impressed with the second fastest time all-time by any Bobcat in 50.54 seconds. The freshman took sixth overall.
Riki Moscoso took fifth in the 5000m with a time of 15:55.58.
UC Merced's 4x100 women's relay team of Lyra Barton, Sinthya Duran, Nneka Egbuziem, and Joyce Nichet finished in 51.34 seconds, good for the No. 4 time in program history.
Delia Rodriguez took the seventh spot on the Bobcats all-time 1500m chart with a time of 5:07.90. Ciarra Cabrera-Martinez moved into eighth all-time in the 200m dash in 28.43 seconds.
Up next, UC Merced will compete at both the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and the Leopard Invitational in La Verne, Calif., April 16-18.
