UC Merced pulled away with a 16-3 run which turned a 6-6 tie into a set-high 13-point lead. Morikawa had four kills in the run, while Lingenfelter had two of his three service aces.

UC Merced bounced back with a dominate third set win in part due to an early 7-0 run highlighted by two Morikawa kills and a solo block. A 5-0 run shortly after with Dylan Jong behind the service line put the Bobcats up by double figures at 17-7. UC Merced remained solid and scored their final six points either via the kill or a service ace, with a Morikawa kill officially sending the match to the fourth set.

The final frame was tied 13-13 before the Bobcats pulled away following a Larranaga kill. Two PUC attack errors followed, and three consecutive kills combined from Morikawa and Larranaga had UC Merced on top 19-13. The two teams traded sideouts to the finish line resulting in a 25-19 set win and a Bobcats 3-1 win in the match.
