Sera Riley and Semiramis Tanasescu Named CCAA Honorable Mention

MERCED, Calif. – University of California, Merced women's volleyball seniors Sera Riley and Semiramis Tanasescu earned CCAA Honorable Mention recognition, as announced by the conference office.

Both Riley and Tanasescu have won conference recognition back-to-back years dating back to UC Merced's time in the California Pacific Conference. This is Riley's third straight all-conference honor.

Riley finished the season as the only player in the CCAA with at least 2.4 kills per set, 3.03 digs per set, and 0.32 service aces per set. Her 2.4 K/S and 220 total kills led the Bobcats, while she was second in digs and aces. Riley had eight kill/dig double-double's and had double digit kills in eleven matches overall. She hit .370 or better in four such matches. The Yorba Linda, Calif., native and outside hitter also tied her career-high with 0.21 blocks per set this season.

Riley finished her career ranked third in program history with 874 career kills and 105 service aces, eighth with 742 digs, and ninth with 340 sets played. She is also UC Merced's only player with three seasons recording at least 200+ kills and 175+ digs.

Tanasescu ranked second in the CCAA this year with a career-high .340 hitting percentage and was tied for fifth with 15 solo blocks. The middle blocker was the only CCAA player with at least 15 solo blocks while playing in less than 80 sets. She averaged 1.49 kills per set and 0.59 blocks per set throughout the season. Tanasescu hit over .375 with at least ten attempts seven times and hit over .400 in four matches. The Irvine, Calif., native registered 3+ blocks in eight outings.

Tanasescu finished her career ranked second in program history with 61 solo blocks, third with 292 total blocks and a .272 hitting percentage, fifth with 357 sets played, and ninth with 504 kills.

With the Bobcats duo earning awards, UC Merced women's volleyball has now had multiple all-conference winners in three straight seasons.
