MERCED, Calif. – University of California, Merced men's basketball junior guard Cameron Brown has been named to the NAIA All-America Third Team.
Brown, who was also named California Pacific Conference Player of the Year, is the first player in program history to earn All-American honors since Aki Chambers in 2012-13.
Brown led the Bobcats and finished second in the Cal Pac in scoring with 14.9 points per game. He also led the Bobcats with 1.3 steals per game and was top three with 5.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Brown also had three double-double's, including two in the postseason.
He scored in double-digits 21 times, including in 14 games in a row in the middle part of the season. On December 7, Brown broke the program's single-game scoring record with 39 points against Lincoln University. He scored 30 in a Cal Pac road win at Simpson.
A key part of the Bobcats defense, Brown and the Bobcats ranked second nationally giving up just 61.3 PPG. It marked the third straight season with Brown on the roster in which the Bobcats had a top five scoring defense in the NAIA.
In the UC Merced all-time record books, Brown ranks fourth with 981 career points and fourth with 100 steals. The San Lorenzo, Calif., native is also on track to break into the top four in rebounds and assists.
Brown led UC Merced to men's basketball's first ever Cal Pac Regular Season Championship this season and an at-large berth to the NAIA National Championships.
UC Merced finished the season 20-7 overall.
