Quiroz Named FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week

MERCED, Calif. – University of California, Merced women's soccer senior forward Trinidad Quiroz was named the FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Quiroz is the first player in program history to earn a CCAA honor. Prior to joining the conference this year, Quiroz earned four Cal Pac Offensive Player of the Week awards earlier in her career.

Quiroz earns the award after recording three goal contributions with two goals and an assist last week during the Southern California road trip.

Both goals came in the second half of the Bobcats 2-0 win at Cal State San Bernardino. Her game-winning goal was a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. The San Jose, Calif., native doubled the Bobcats lead in the 70th minute off an assist from goalkeeper Alicia Lepe.

Quiroz's multi-goal game was the eleventh of her career. She is up to six goals on the year and 47 in her career.

Quiroz is six goals away from becoming the program's all-time leader.

She assisted the games first goal at Cal State Dominguez Hills. She also tied her season-high with nine shots in the match, putting five on frame.

Quiroz currently leads the CCAA with four game-winning goals (T-7th in NCAA Division II) and is ranked second with six goals. She is first with 4.27 shots per game and 26 total shots on target.

UC Merced women's soccer continues its season on Friday at San Francisco State. Kickoff from Cox Stadium in San Francisco is scheduled for 12:30pm.
