MARION, Ind. – University of California, Merced men's outdoor track distance runner Jonathan Chavez finished his season with a ninth-place finish in the 1500m run at the NAIA Track & Field National Championships on Friday morning.
Chavez's time of 3:50.88 was his fastest time in his four career national championship races (prelims/finals) and his second fastest time in any meet this year.
Chavez was the top finisher among West Coast runners.
Milligan's Bryn Woodall won the 1500m national championship in 3:41.93.
Friday marked the final NAIA competition for UC Merced. The Bobcats will begin NCAA Division II competition as a CCAA member next season.
