MERCED, Calif. – University of California, Merced track junior Martel Fields has secured FloCollege/CCAA Track Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season.

Fields is the first student-athlete to win at least three CCAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors in a season since Cal Poly Humboldt's Ryan Fields in 2024. Overall, Fields is one of just four to do so in the last decade. The Long Beach, Calif., native joins R. Fields, Cal State LA's Khallifah Rosser (2023), and Cal State LA's Leon Tafirenyika (2018).

Fields' latest recognition comes after winning the 200m dash at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday. The Bryan Clay Invitational is known as the fastest and largest collegiate meet in the country and he won the race in 21.08 seconds. Fields beat 72 competitors.

On Friday, Fields broke his own 100m program-record by stopping the clock in 10.40 seconds. His 100m dash time is the third fastest in the CCAA and is a NCAA provisional standard time.

Fields also anchored the Bobcats 4x100 relay team with Naseem Hassaan, Medard Idi, and Nyj Joiner to a time of 41.66 seconds.

The junior is currently one of just two athletes in the CCAA with NCAA qualifying times in the 100m and 200m dash. Cal State LA's Drew Hill is the athlete with Fields.

Fields leads the CCAA and is tenth in NCAA Division II this year with a top 200m dash time of 20.76 seconds.

Up next, Fields and the Bobcats will compete in the 2026 CCAA Men's & Women's Track & Field Championships at Mangrum Track & Field April 30-May 2 on the campus of Cal State San Marcos.
