MERCED, Calif. – University of California, Merced men's track junior Martel Fields has earned his second straight FloCollege/CCAA Track Athlete of the Week award, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Fields is the first student-athlete in UC Merced history to earn multiple CCAA weekly awards.
Fields won the 100m dash, 200m dash, and 4x100 relay at the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday hosted by Chico State, including breaking his own program-records once again in his individual events.
He shined in the 200m dash with a winning time of 20.91, hitting the NCAA Division II provisional time and clocking the second fastest time in the nation this season.
The Long Beach, Calif., native stopped the clock at 10.54 to secure first place in the 100m final. His 10.54 time is currently ranked fourth in the CCAA.
His 4x100 relay squad with Naseem Hassaan, Medard Idi, and Nyj Joiner took first in 41.18.
UC Merced will return to action on Saturday, March 28 at West Coast Relays hosted by Fresno State at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif.
